What Members Thought

This was a Dystopian novel set in a strange world where everybody is same. The world has no color and difference. Everybody and Everything is same, how our hero learn more about the world he lives in and how he learns that the things are not always how they seem.

Why couldn't I have read this when I was younger? Okay, I'm still young, but it would have been interesting to see what I have thought about this book when I was a wee little kid as opposed to reading it and understanding the larger themes as an adult. When I read this book, I imagined a colorless world where people spoke in monotonous voices and thought of how boring that would have been, and yet, everyone without feelings seem to be content with their lives. I didn't read this book in grade school like everyone else in my generation, and gosh, this is deep, heavy stuff. It's the kind of heavy that kids can understand and also imbues them with responsibility. I say that because that is how I felt after reading it: that I need to recognize gifts and be grateful for my world, to help others who are powerless or knowledgeless, to take bold risks for justice. What a great book.
