I am sure there is much more to this story than an initial thought can put together. Great read, but not sure exactly what else is hidden in these words.

I read this in the untranslated German; it's the first thing I've ever read (aside from very short stories and poems in school, etc) in its original German.

I mention this only because it means I went through it excruciatingly slowly, having to think about literally almost every. single. word. And I think that made the stress and suspense even worse. (as in: better)
