I would very much like to have seen this novel as it should have been if Franz had had time to develop it.
On the surface, the story is about a neurotic bank officer caught up in the joke of a legal system in a schizophrenic society. Likely a critique of society in early 20th century Prague with personal angst about finding a place in this society.
