This book was on my shelves waiting to be read for awhile. It was very good, I especially liked the way it was written, almost as a series of short vignettes. A very candid autobiography, at times funny, poignant and uplifting, it tells us what it was like to grow up black in the rural South during the thirties and forties. Angelou is an extremely and poetic writer.
