Even though this might not be the deepest work of fantasy any more, it is still a very impressive work of imagination, and the world-building of course is un-comparable.

The Lord of the Rings has inspired so many later writers and great works of fantasy has risen from it. This is the one work of fantasy everyone should read.

Hooray! Finished at last. Really enjoyed this, the first of the Lord of the Rings trilogy. I'm looking forward to reading the next now. The movies were good, no doubt about it, but I was unable to finish watching any one of them. The books, however, are by far the better deal of the two. ...more

I always wanted to sit down and read this book, but I struggled to make time for it until I bought a copy and left it next to my bed and I slowly made my way through it, some parts made me laugh some made me cry but ultimately it was worth making the time for this book and I'm glad I can say I have read it. ...more
