What Members Thought
I always brace myself when I begin a Steinbeck novel, and this one was no different. This book follows a young boy, Jody, through four seemingly unconnected stories about life and death, adventure and reality, and the joys and sorrows of growing up. Steinbeck's imagery is perfect (every page took me right back to the Salinas valley in Northern California!) and his ability to capture the complexities of boyhood and life in general is unmatched. A quick, short, good read!
