Loved it! Quintessentially English and Victorian:- Melodrama, long-winded, some hocus-pocus elements in the plot, but still immensely readable today. An absolute treat. It did sag a bit towards the end but by then I'd chuckled my way through the first half and the 5 stars were firmly awarded.

This book was a delight to read. I am not one who enjoys mysteries nor books with a lot of dialogue, but this book has been the exception. I enjoyed the mystery itself which was much like Agatha Christy. I also liked the unreliable narrators taking turns telling the story. But I think what I enjoyed the most was the sense of humor and the names of the characters; Betteredge, Godfrey Ablewhite, Mr. Candy (the doctor), Miss Clack, and Gooseberry.
