A very different type of tale. A slow "plot" of encroaching imperialism. Too often the "white man" has viewed Africa as a primitive and uncivilized place. In truth the civilizations (tribes) of Africa are simply different, with different rules, gods, and justice. The greatness of this novel is in the authentic voice of the African and his world. It is good for us to get out of the Eurocentric view of everything. ...more
