What Members Thought

Winter
2024:
4,5 Stars

Another lovely re-read of this little gem.

2017:
5 Stars

I love this book even more on my second read through. It's everything delightful about childhood and full of wonder.

Even though I'm not suppossed to finish this until tomorrow, I think that will be a very busy day so I finished it today. This was a perfect Advent Calendar read!

Mary is orphaned in a cholera epidemic in India. She is then brought to Yorkshire to live with her uncle. Described as an ugly, sour-faced little thing with terrible manners she doesn’t really have anything to look forward to. Until she finds ‘the garden’. And Dickon. And Colin.
I had a smile on my face as I read this book and a longing in my heart to be out on the moors, ‘in the fresh air’.
