When I think back to my adolescence, V.C. Andrews always pops into my mind. Sasha Porter and her mother are homeless. When they are hit by a teen driver high on Ecstasy, Sasha's world comes to a halt when her mother is killed instantly. Sasha's father leaves her and her mother and they become homeless. They live on the streets for months until tragedy strikes. A rich girl who was high has run over her mother and her. Sasha's mother ends up dead while she only has a broken leg. The girl's mother offers to take her in and Sasha is whisked away into a life of luxury. But the girl who ran her offer has a tough time dealing with Sasha living in her dead sister's room and enjoying benefits she never got to.

The plot was interesting and far more realistic than previous titles from V.C. Andrews, but character development was either weak or a little off. Throughout the book, Jordan seemed naïve or somehow uneducated despite her background. Sasha, on the other hand, was always waxing on philosophically which seemed quite unnatural given her character’s age and background.

It took me forever to read this because i borrowed from the library and had to return it cause i moved out of state lol.. i own all the books except the last for this one on...so i had to wait till i could get another copy to finish reading i honestly did not think it was a bad book and cant wait to get the second one and read it
