Note: This is a joint review of both "Family Storms" and "Cloudburst"

When I think back to my adolescence, V.C. Andrews always pops into my mind. She was my absolute favorite author, with her Dollanganger/Flowers in the Attic series being the first set of books I became absolutely obsessed with. I still remember the thrills and excitement of a new V.C. Andrews release and hurrying to the local B. Dalton (pre-Barnes & Noble and Amazon) to pick it up as quickly as I could and staying up late into t

The plot was interesting and far more realistic than previous titles from V.C. Andrews, but character development was either weak or a little off. Throughout the book, Jordan seemed naïve or somehow uneducated despite her background. Sasha, on the other hand, was always waxing on philosophically which seemed quite unnatural given her character’s age and background.

I love VC Andrews but this book is predictable. Poor girl befalls a tragedy, gets taken in by a rich family, etc. Standard VC fare without the usual twists you would expect from one of her books.
