This book was a bit hard to read, I know I said they deserved punishment but this was cruel.

Beau and Ruby really felt out of character.

The theme of the past coming back to haunt them was also done badly.

It seemed like the writer tried to make it seem that Paul’s death was the reason but rather it felt like a repeat of the previous Pierre and Jean, mixed with what happened with Ruby and Giselle.

Ruby is probably my least favorite VC Andrews character. She's really very selfish. I can honestly understand why Gladys Tate is so bitter. In this story, the family loses one of their sons due to a snake bite and the other son falls into a catonic state with the lost of his twin. Then you've got Ruby running all over doing voodoo because she believes her family is cursed due to her having sex with her half brother years ago. Meanwhile. It was very slow to start off I wanted to put it down but glad I didn’t ... it gets good at the end of chapter 5 and turns into a page turner the rest of the book ... wish book #5 was not a prequel so I could hear more about Pearl & Jack Clovis <3
