What Members Thought
Excellent writing but focused on a very nasty, petty, and stuck human being and former spy, making this a dreary read. Caustic, sardonic, ironic situations give an unanticipated view of British spies, but these are largely characters who are lost and caught up in their own appetites in their historical times. The book had great reviews when published but I’ve seen better from Banville.
