Serafina and her Pa are living in the basement of the Biltmore estate, home to the Vanderbilts, where her father is the maintenance man. Since she was about 6 Serafina was the CRC of the estate, the Chief Rat Catcher. She is a night owl and can see better at night than most so when children visiting the estate start to go missing and Serafina sees the culprit, a man in a black cloak, she takes it upon herself to catch him.
