[close] The Stone Sky is the final book in Jemison's Broken Earth trilogy, and it is the strongest of the three books. The Fifth Season introduced us to this world of earthquakes and the feared yet powerful people who can control them. The Obelisk Gate largely moved characters into place to prepare for this book. Here, characters have to decide what to do with their broken and angry world, and we learn more of the back story of how this world came to be.

These books are an allegory for race relations in this world, and I think it's very well done. I loved this book because it laid bare the pain inherent in surviving racism and the difficult choices people make in response
