This book was a cross between Neil Gaiman and Donna Tartt. I loved Victor LaValle's writing. The book took an unexpected turn, but rather than being turned off by that, I was enthralled. Traveling the streets of NYC through LaValle's eyes was enjoyable as well. ...more
