The first book of the Heir series was definitely aimed at the kids. This book is a bit more richer and more entertaining for us older YA book readers. The first book was a good story and it shows that Chima is a new writer. The second book shows more maturity and better world building. Needless to say, this was as great as the first book in The Heir Chronicles.
This time around, Chima adds a new protagonist, named Seph. Along with a new cast of characters and a new type of Weirlind as the protagonist (Seph's a wizard), there is a new dynamic to the series with a look into the life of young wizard.
