Until I reached the Epilogue of this book, I was so annoyed with the main character. A sixteen year old boy that constantly cries and makes you believe he lives in a bubble. This boy literally didn't know much about anything. When I reached the Epilogue, the story finally came together and I could see why he was the way he was. The Epilogue saved this book. I give it 3.5 stars.

This coming of age story is told in letters to Dear Friend (never specified but seems to be the reader). It is the observations of Charlie during his freshman year in high school. It was ok... some of it was really powerful and easy to relate to but I found Charlie's character to be too pathetic. Also he didn't seem to just be a social outcast but seemed to have further issues like Asberger's or autism but this was never stated outright. I found him to be irritating at times.

I'm super conflicted about this one. It was an absolute favourite of mine when I was in High School, but I hadn't reread it in ages and it just wasn't impressive. I gave it an extra star purely based off teenage Eloise's opinion
