What the Duke Desires is the first in a new series of books, The Duke’s Men, by Sabrina Jeffries, and I certainly plan to read/listen to the others in the series on the strength of this one.
Lisette Bonnaud and her brother, Tristan, are the illegitimate children of Viscount Rathmore and his French-born mistress, a former actress, who lives with her children in Yorkshire. When their father dies, leaving them nothing, the new viscount, George, who has long hated his father’ ...more

This was my first book by Sabrina Jeffries. It was engaging but didn't set the world on fire. I don't know if I will look for other books by this author but am glad I gave this book a chance. It's low on angst and has some elements many enjoy - starchy hero gets unstarched and close siblings.

The title to this book is a bit vague, but the book itself is the first in a projected series called "The Duke's Men." Set in 1816, in England and France, the back story is of the two legitimate sons of Viscount Rathmoor, who are divided in their attitudes and actions toward their half-siblings.
The younger son, Dominick Manton, becomes a private investigator, with his office in London. His half-sister, Lisette Bonnaud, wants to become a full investigator and partner. Her brother Tristan fled to ...more

Absolutely love this new series by Sabrina Jeffries. It is witty, intriguing, and heartfelt. As the illegitimate daughter of a Viscount Rathmoor and his mistress, Lisette, has had a rough life. She was forced to flee her home at the age of 14 when her father unexpectedly dies in a hunting accident. She leaves for France and is forced to leave one of her half brothers behind and escape with her mother and her brother, who is accused of horse thievery. Years later, she unexpectedly meets the Duke

What a fantastic book to start off this series, The Duke's Men. Just another fabulous read by Sabrina Jeffries.
This series centers around the Manton/Bonnaud family which is connected due to the Viscount of Rathmoor. He had 2 legitimate sons (George and Dom) and 2 illegitimate children with his mistress (Tristan and Lisette).
I'm glad that despite George's hatred for Tristan and Lisette, Dom made up for it by loving his half-brother and sister. It was an interesting dichotomy between all the sibli ...more

This book was alright--nothing that really stood out to me as worthy of a re-read, which was a shame, because I do like a good jilted-and-then-reunited HR. But then, I haven't been that big of a fan of the Duke's Men series, so there's that. Jane and Dominick are perfectly lovely characters, but there's nothing memorable about them, or their re-connection.
Nancy's "secret" is 100% obvious. Oh, and she's an idiot.
I was less interested in the Manton's and Cale's of the novel, and more interested in ...more

A pretty standard romance, with a too quick change of heart from both parties for it to be believable for me. I liked the heroine's spunk, though.
