4 ½ stars – Historical/Regency Romance
Oh, how I love Julia Quinn’s witty, winsome writing! She’s one of my absolute favorite authors for feel-good, sweet romances that put a huge smile on my face and lift my spirits. The musicale scene in the first chapter had me laughing so hard that I had tears streaming down my face and that part alone was worth 5 stars. This actually has a bit of angst as well, but it’s tempered with Julia’s engaging, heartwarming style.

I love Julia Quinn's books and this one is one of her best.
The Smythe-Smith family and their annual musical evening presented by only the unmarriaged daughters will live forever in the mind as sheer loving torture. But--apparently Cupid is tone deaf, as romance rises from the echoes of cacophony.

Loved this book! There is a reason Julia Quinn is one of my favorite authors – she never writes a disappointing book. Daniel could not shot worth a flip and accidently shot is friend in the leg. Well…it was a duel but Daniel’s foot slipped on the wet grass so he spent 3 years on the Continent. Defending herself Ann accidently slashed the face of George and he vowed to get even. Ann’s father disowned her and for the past 8 years she has worked and is currently governess for 3 of Daniel’s cousins.

After having read a couple of so-so romances, it is so refreshing to get back to the really good ones. Like this one.
Daniel Smythe-Smith has just returned from a 3 year exile from England on the night of his family's annual musicale. Not wanting to upstage them, he watches from the sidelines and notices the substitute pianist, Anne Wynter, who he finds out is the governess to his nieces. Daniel is captivated by her from the beginning.

I liked it, but then it's rare that I admit to disliking a JQ book (Mr. Cavendish, I Presume and The Lost Duke of Wyndham are the exceptions). Daniel and Anne's story was very sweet and enjoyable, the humor I adore had my chuckling a couple of times...then Anne made a comment (view spoiler) I disagree. Other minor d

It's as simple as this: If it's written by Julia Quinn, you must buy it. You must allot several hours to read and get carried away into a charming world where a heroine & hero must navigate a difficult path before true love triumphs. Note: Do not start reading one of Julia's books at midnight because you will stay awake until 4:00 a.m. or until you have devoured every last word.
2015 Addition:

Not my favorite Julia Quinn but even a sub-par book of hers is way better than 90% of the rest of what I read. A solid, sweet romance with her trademark humor.
Another wonderful stories from Ms. Quinn. really loved it. It's worth it to wait a year for this kinda stories :) thumbs up!
