This was a good read (well, technically, a good listen because this was an audiobook for me). We start off pretty much exactly where Alpha & Omega (even though this is supposed to be the first in the series, I highly recommend reading that one first because I was lost reading this the first time I started it) left off. Charles, an alpha wolf, has recognized Anna as his mate and rescued her from a pack that has brutalized her for years. After Charles is wounded, his father, pretty much the alpha

There is actually a short story that comes before this novel and I have to say, I wasn't so impressed by it, but the novel seems like it was written by a completely different author (the Briggs I'm familiar with through the awesome Mercy Thompson series). Great world building, slow believable romance (and so gentle and sweet), complicated characters... I give it an A+. In fact, this may be my favorite of her work.
