Well I started with book 3 of this series and while I think it did well as a stand-alone, I would have loved to have read the previous two books just so I got more of a sense of the previous couples who show up often in this book. That being said, it didn't detract from the book not knowing more about Sara/Gideon's story or Jordan/Emily's story.

In this book, our story focuses on Felicity Taylor who writes a gossip column under the guise of "Lord X" as a way of gaining income to take care of her Well I started with book 3 of this series and while I think it did well as a stand-alone, I would have loved to have read the previous two books just so I got more of a sense of the previous couples who show up often in this book. That being said, it didn't detract from the book not knowing more about Sara/Gideon's story or Jordan/Emily's story.

In this book, our story focuses on Felicity Taylor who writes a gossip column under the guise of "Lord X" as a way of gaining income to take care of her brothers, 12 year old James and the 6 year old triplets, Georgie, Ansel and William. Her father was an architect to the ton but in trying to keep up appearances, he died and left his children with a mountain of debt. Felicity uses the connections her father had working for the ton to learn all the on dits that she shares with her readers. Along the way, she ruffles some feathers as she tries to use the gossip she hears to warn a friend about marrying Ian, Lord St. Clair.

Ian is looking to make a marriage to a quiet, serene lady and beget an heir as soon as he can or else he'd lose his family home to his dastardly uncle. When Lord X writes about him in his column, the rumours he writes are detrimental to someone he's protecting so Ian decides to unmask Lord X and get him to cease and desist. Only things are so easy when he discovers Felicity's secret and also realizes that he's attracted to her.

What comes next is an entertaining push-pull as Ian decides Felicity should step in after the woman he would have made his fiancee runs off following Lord X's gossip. He tries to reason it's because it was Felicity's fault but he soon admits to himself it's because he's attracted to her and can't stop thinking about her. For Felicity, who had previously had bad experiences with men of rank, she's adamant that she won't marry for anything other than love.

At first, I was kind of put off by the way Ian really pushed and man-handled his way into Felicity's life but over the course of the book, it's actually discussed and explained which made me a happy reader. Ian not only took responsibility for his actions but he acknowledged that he did Felicity a disservice even after she had forgiven him and all their past secrets had been aired. I also enjoyed the ending although I wish something more had happened to Ian's uncle, Edgar, who was evil.

Definitely enjoyed it and looking forward to checking out the previous two stories. ...more
