This was by far my favorite of the epilogues written for the Bridgerton books. This one focused on Michael and Francesca and their difficulties in conceiving a child. I found it very interesting to read about this struggle which is not really talked about much in many books about this time period. Francesca's difficulty is magnified because of her extremely large group of siblings and their abilities to procreate with fervor. There are no lack of Bridgerton grandchildren, and that doesn't help F This was by far my favorite of the epilogues written for the Bridgerton books. I was not exactly sure how her conversation with her mother helped her to work through her sadness over her infertility, but I'm glad that it did. I was especially impressed with Michael and his response to her infertility. He did not approach the problem selfishly. He was sad simply because he did not want to see Francesca sad. He did not like to see anything deny his love the happiness he felt she deserved. His attitude further showed what a wonderful spouse he was to Francesca. It was nice to see that their love was still strong after several years of marriage. I was happy to see that Francesca got to have her happy ending. Why she didn't tell her mother was beyond me, but I think that that was in keeping with her character's private nature. Still, as a mom I would be a little sad if my children didn't think to let me know that they had a baby, especially after struggling for so long to get one.

The main problem with this novella is that it is so short -- so very, very, short. I was enjoying it so much that when the ending came I was disappointed that there wasn't more. I guess if it was a free ebook, or maybe even 99 cents it would have been okay, but for $1.99 it seems like a reader deserves more than a chapter. This story was good enough that it deserved a little more time -- maybe not a full length novel, but at least a little more time to explore Francesca's sadness and then her joy when she finally has her baby. So, I can't really give this more than three stars, but it was a good three star book. ...more
