Another very enjoyable read by Julie Quinn. I'm trying to get through her backlist and this is book 2.

The heroine, Belle, was introduced in book 1, Splendid. She is staying at the country estate of her cousin, Emma, the heroine from the previous book, and her new husband, Alex, a duke. Their next door neighbor turns out to be an acquaintance of Alex's from the war, John Blackwood. He had just recently been bestowed the honor of a new title for his bravery during the war. I finally have all 4 of the books that cover the Blydon series so I'm now getting around to reading these first published books by Julia Quinn.

I enjoyed the book and the characters but it's obvious that this is an early work. John, our hero, has too many I love you - you must stay away from me moments. And I seriously doubt that Belle would be able to climb a three-story tree & manage to get in through a window when she's never climbed a tree before in her life.
