What Members Thought

I thoroughly enjoyed this latest Julia Quinn book. The storyline was interesting, and the characters were very likeable. I also liked the way the story was so interwoven with the first book from the series, but I believe I would have appreciated this even more if I had read them back to back. The two books take place at the same time, and I remembered some of the same events being told in the previous book from the point of view of the main characters in it, which was very interesting. I loved it! The author's voice is amazing. Amelia was much more interesting in this book than the first one. And Thomas remained somewhat enigmatic even though much of his motivations were explained and even more likeable, I had hoped that this book would breeze over the parts already covered by the first one, and spend more time on how he picks up his life and starts over, thus giving us a new story, but I found myself not really very disappointed that it didn't.

Thomas Cavendish is a fascinating hero, and I found Julia Quinn's experiment with the double perspectives in The Lost Duke and this book interesting.
