I am a former Fort Worth police officer of 13 years. For the last 2 of those police years, I was assigned to the FBI Violent Crimes Task Force. I initiated and worked a rare deep cover operation infiltrating Crips (as a white cop) and ultimately, put away 51 of them; 41 federally, for guns and dope and ultimately solved 9 cold case murders.
The story at the time was huge; hitting local papers and TV news, as well as national Fox News.
http://eglibraryreferences.blogspot.c...I recently authored a book detailing my experience working as the sole undercover among these violent crooks (LIFE IN THE FISH BOWL) and I think you would enjoy the read. The entire operation (deemed Operation Fish Bowl) took place in Fort Worth, Texas which is part of the remarkable story. The kingpin in my case was buying and reselling $250,000.00 worth of cocaine per-WEEK and he was still a local Fort Worth gangster!
I am donating much of the proceeds of this book to charities that mentor children with incarcerated parents, as this operation alone left 104 children without one. This was the only way I could see this type of risky operation actually paying-off… To keep the children left by these violent gangsters from becoming a part of the cycle. I am passionate about making a difference in this regard.
