What Members Thought

In the beginning I did not like this book at all. After finishing it, it was kind of OK.
The reason why I had difficulties with it was the heroine Elena. The book started up slowly with all her thoughts and longing after Stefan and crushing for Damon at the same time. It was not very convincing for me. It was like young woman's boring and neverending dream. I wanted to say: Get a grip and move on, girl! She really annoyed me throughout the whole book.

This book took me almost a full year to read. I ran out it bought it the day it was released and just kept having to put it down. I was truly disappointed with this book in the series. The storyline felt all over the place. I felt loss so many times and truly never caught up. I am not sure if I will continue to read this series beyond this book. I have started reading the new series that dates back to when Stefan and Damon met Katherine called Origins: Stefan's Dairies.

This was by far my fav in the Vamp Diaries series. Normally I get frustrated because I think Elena is too perfect, and she still tends to get that in this book too- but you start to see her faults. I love her relationship with Damon and feelings with Stephan - it's a great triangle to get wrapped up in.

I really didn't like this book at all. Especially the ending. Ellen is selfish, self centered and materialistic. Bonnie is whiney and seems to be more like a 6 year old than 17 year old. The plots to these books just keep getting sillier and sillier the more that come out. The only reason I forced myself to finish this was because I had already invested so much time into it and wanted to be able to count it towards the TM's 100 Books in 2010 Challenge. LOL!

This is my overall review for the entire Vampire Diaries series. I think it was 1992 when I first read these, maybe 93? I loved them and had never read anything like them. It was Damon for me. It was always Damon. To be honest, I like the series now more than the last three books, I feel like she was really pushing it with the fox spirits and whatnot, but these books will always hold a special place in my heart. I love you L.J.! =)
