I have an obsession with vampires. Whether they be sparkly & vegetarian or viscous & bloody, I loves me the vamps!!! That being said --- to be perfectly honest, I avoided reading the Vampire Diaries series, because the commercials for the TV show looked like 90210 with fangs. However, I found this book on clearance for a dollar yesterday, so I picked it up. (I can't resist a bargain!)

Didn't meet my expectations. I read somewhere that this book was the Mean Girls version of Twilight, I couldn't agree more! even though I like Twilight and even though this one was written long ago before it. The Awakening and The Struggle sucked. I'm not going to say that the vampires weren't that fascinating, or that the story was boring. It's just Elena and her friends that annoyed the hell outta me. So boring I almost didn't finish it. But I loved the romantic Night World series so I figured it would get better. It didn't. After book 2 I decided that was it for Vampire Diaries.
