Yes, this is my first Nora Roberts book - and it was great! Billed only as a 'novel,' I wasn't sure exactly what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised by the great plot and world building, including the genealogy element (I'm a family tree buff myself).

It's much more paranormal than romance, though there are the hot sex scenes... 8-) The settings and history really made the story come to life. The ending was mostly satisfying...I knew there would be a lot left unfinished as the first book of a t ...more

I loved this book when I read it the first time, now the second time...LOVE IT EVEN MORE! What's not to love, it has suspense, romance, mystery plus it is scary. Nora Roberts does an amazing job describing all the scary scenes, makes then real which is one of the things that's awesome about Blood Brothers. This is the first of the trilogy. Three ten year old boys born in the same day on the same month grew up together and the friendship was more brotherhood. On the day they were going to turn ten, Cal,Fox and Gage decided to take an adventure and go together into the woods and camp out on Pagan Stone. When they decided that they should make an blood oath to not only stay friends but became blood brothers. In order to do that the slit the wrist to draw blood and make it official, but when the blood is drawn something evil get released. For seven years for seven days is it hell in their town of Hollow. That night they were never the same, Cal could see the past of Hollow, Fox can see the present, Gage can see the what's to come. Plus they received the ability to heal quickly, but feel everything while it happens. After twenty years of dealing with this nightmare Quin Black, a writer of the supernatural, comes into town. But this soons make Quin think that this town isn't haunted by a ghost who die along ago and still roams around, this is an evil demon that seeks to destroy. Quin and Cal become aware that they have the same ability into seeing the past. Working together they find that Quin is not just a story in her book but part of it. Quinn meets a woman named Layla at her hotel restaurtant and notices that see can see the little demon that appears to scare them. But the thing of this Demon is that Cal,Fox,Gage and now Quinn are the only people that are able to see it. Although the demon uses the innocent bystanders to hurt the rest. Some get infected and kill themselves, kill their families, rape just doing things that they don't know why after it pass, they have no memory of doing it. Layla becomes part of the group and find out that she as well as Quin is involved. Layla has the same ability as Fox, seeing the present. Quinn and Cal fall for each other and know that its now going to get even harder. Quinn contacts for good friend Cybil and tell her to come down and help since she is the expert of research she could help the group. But when Cybil and Gage arrive at the same time in the same place, they look into it. Cybil and Gage shared the same ability as well. But when Cybil finds out why three females end up having the same abilities as three male it becomes at great shock. I loved this book, it was just amazing!! I don't want to go into more details and ruin the book, so all I will say is read it and you won't be disappointed. ...more
