It was such a pleasure to read this book. I had never read anything by L.K. Madigan or anything about mermaids before so I wasn't really sure what to except when I picked this one up. Lena was a very typical teenager, life focused on herself, her boyfriend, and her friends. One day Lena spots what she thinks is a mermaid out in the ocean and after that she can't stop thinking about her. This was a very quick and entertaining read for me. I started this book on a Friday night around 6:00 and finished it about 10.45 the same night. I was really intrigued by the story line. The main character is Lena. She's your average teen with a few issues. She is unavoidably drawn to the sea. So much so that she even walks in her sleep to the ocean. The Mermaid’s Mirror has a beautiful soothing cover that makes you want to pack your running gear and take a jog at the beach. It’s the main reason why I picked this one up. But even with the beautiful cover, it didn’t do much for me.

I didn’t like Lena’s character. Lena was selfish. Her father tells her time and time again she is not allowed to surf, she betrays their trust and surfs behind their back.
I also didn’t find her particularly nice to anyone, well except to her little brother.
