This book was a little bit different than all the rest because it is mainly about someone who is NOT a member of the Black Dagger Brotherhood. I was always intrigued by Rehvenge’s character, and I enjoyed learning more about the Sympath colony. However, I could have done without the details of his sexual escapades with his HALF-SISTER. World Building: The BDB world is beautiful, vampires, some angel appearance (Lassiter rules), lessers, glymera - I mean, it's an absolutely awesome world that feels entirely natural and makes perfect sense.

World Building: The BDB world is beautiful, vampires, some angel appearance (Lassiter rules), lessers, glymera - I mean, it's an absolutely awesome world that feels entirely natural and makes perfect sense.
Characters: I was in love with one particular character this novel focused on, and he is Rehvenge. He was a character that intrigued me since he first made an appearance in the series, but this book just made him a jewel. I won't say I didn't love other characters in this series, because I sort of love them all so far, but Rehvenge is my top fav.
Elhena was a lovely character, and I felt she was exactly what Rehv needed, but I can't say she was my fav female in this book. Xhex was, and I'm entirely dying to know what happens in the next book because she's in trouble at the end of this one. Enough said.
John is like this ongoing project, we've been watching him grow, grow up - as I've said, ongoing project. I hope he'll reach maturity within the next book because I like a whole lot where he is right now.
And can I hear an 'Amin!' for the brother Tohrment - you'll get what I mean when you read. And 'Oh, snap!' for poor Wrath, but he holds on strong and does us all proud as does his hellren.
Plot: Insanity. I mean, everything is going on at the same time, like this novel is something like 3 novels in one or something! There's Wrath's story development, Rehv's story, development in John's, Tohr's... Jesus H Christ! Insanity, non-stop action, character development, romance... This is the height of writing mastery going on right here, guys. Height of writing mastery.
Writing: As I said, height of writing mastery. Third person narrative from various POV as the story focuses on different characters. It might feel a bit heavy just because there are more trails to follow, so to speak, it's like a more in one novel. But Lover Avenged is worth it.
Curb Appeal: Compulsive buy material, for sure.

This is still my favorite series of everything I've read so far, and reading each title in the Black Dagger Brotherhood is a complete and epic treat. If you like PNR, authentic character voices and real character building as well as world building, you need to read these books. Creme de la creme as far as I'm concerned. ...more

Going into Lover Avenged I didn't think I would love Rehv as much as I did. He's a drug lord, a pimp, and he regularly does some weird stuff in a cabin with the Princess. Boy, did my view of him change after reading this book! It turns out Rehvenge is a good son and brother, a loyal friend, a protector, a loving uncle, and quite the Romeo, too! See, there is a purpose behind his dark image. Rehv harbors a secret, and he does any and all things to keep this secret contained. I absolutely loved the pairing of Rehvenge and Ehlena. Early on, I got the feeling that they would end up leaning on each other for support. Individually, they both lead lives that leave them emotionally drained and lonely at the end of the day. They are also alike in that each care and sacrifice a lot for their living parent. Rehv is very cautious in what he reveals about himself to Ehlena, only telling her enough detail to placate her curiosity. You just know all of the secrets will threaten to blow up in his face.

There is a lot of Xhex in this one, too! We get to see her assassin side and get a better understanding of the relationship she shares with Rehv, as well as why they are protective of one another. Then there is what happens between JM and Xhex, which was really awkward! It all results in us getting a glimpse of Xhex's vulnerable side as she deals with her feelings for JM.

Lash is quite fascinating, isn't he? I find myself tolerating him better as an antagonist than say Mr. X. Maybe it's because I sort of feel a teeny smidge sorry for the guy. I mean it's not his fault how the evil came to be within him. However, he is certainly trying to make a name for himself in his leadership role. With the way things ended with him in this book, I'm so looking forward to find out what comes of it in Lover Mine!

We get an update on Wrath and Beth! I love what Ward did with these two in giving them realistic marital problems. Don't worry, Wrath certainly makes it all up to Beth later...did it get hot in his study, or what? Wrath has to make major adjustments in his life, but at least he made some new friends.

In Lover Avenged, we get to see a little bit of everyone. There are some hilarious scenes between the Brothers, and they love to make fun of Lassiter too! The romance is not too shabby either. Rehv cherishes every moment with Ehlena. He cooks for her, they have very sweet conversations, and he takes very good care of her. Who knew Rehv could be quite the romantic! Lover Avenged is definitely one of my favorites in the series! ...more

This book has been my favorite. I know i say this to all of them but really this beats all of them. Rhevenge has been one of my favorite characters. How could you not love this story? I feel like i could just pass by the whole Lesser section and read just about Rev.

I seriously never want to leave this world. I love everything about it. And I love the brothers. Period.
