How often do dreams become a reality? This is exactly what is happening for Lena Duchannes and Ethan Wate - only these are dreams they'd rather not have. A species apart, yet inexplicably connected, Lena and Ethan must confront an old curse, long-hidden family secrets, and their feelings for each other...all while in Gatlin, a small town where your business is never your own.

When I initially picked up this book, I had no idea what it was about. All I knew was that everyone kept talking about how great it was. Once I began reading, it took me a few chapters to really get absorbed into the story. I mainly think that was my fault for having a hectic couple of days, because I definitely did get "absorbed". Kami and Margaret took me to a place that I could relate to on some level; I'm a Southerner as well. Although, I have to say, I hope my accent is not as prominent as

I fell in love w/ this book the moment I got an ARC for it. I've been dying to post a review, but have been asked by Little Brown to wait until it's official release day to do so. This book is full of everything from southern history, love, romance, witty, mysterious and it leaves you on the edge of your seat as you try and figure out exactly who everyone really is and what is really about to unfold in Gatlin County South Carolina. Nothing is what it seems.

I went back and forth trying to decide whether or not to give this book 2 or 3 stars. I ultimately decided on 3.
This is another "forbidden love" young adult story with the heroine being from the supernatural realm and the hero from the human world -- or so one thinks. A new and mysterious girl (Lena) moves to the tiny Southern town and takes up residency with her reclusive Uncle Macon. Townfolk frown upon Macon and the vast property he owns. The popular girls in school give Lena a hard time whil ...more

This book is the best of the two so far i think. Lena and Ethan act more adventurous and curious and you get a lot more out of it than beautiful darkness (book 2).
Lena is not my favourite charector. She is slightly depressing and very optimistic. well she gives me that impression!
Ethan, i like. He is a very boy boy into girls and bikinis and stuff but i like him becuase that isn't his main key thing he looks for in girls. He has a brain and his own opinion, and i like that about a charector.

Great read! Had me hooked from the very beginning. I found it interesting that it was from Ethan perspective instead of Lena's. I'm so use to it being from the females point of view. It made the feelof the book different from most of the young adult books I've read.
