This is such an amazing love story. Here we have a girl, Grace who has always been fascinated with the wolves. When she was little she was attacked by one and has never grown to be angry or feared by them. Instead it drew her more to them. But there was one wolves, which she called her own, the one with yellow eyes.

One of the best books I've read this year. I actually think I'd place it at the top of the list. The problem is I love books too much :)
I was a big fan of the fact that the story was very real to me. The way the wolves hold onto many of their instincts when not wolves added to the integration of that 'real' feel, not just a fantasy feel.
The love was believable and endearing, and I got the sense of belonging to this other world of the wolves...

I loved this book so much. The book is just so well written. The flow is fantastic, the way the chapters are broken up. Graces obsession with the wolves is beautifully portrayed. She falls in love with Sam before he is even in human form. Now that might seems kind of creepy but it doesn't come off that way. The whole thing is just so romantic.
The characters are likable. I loved the characters actually and think you will fall in love with them too. You want their relationship to work, you want to ...more

Shiver is one of the most amazing books I have ever read. The more times I read it, the more I love it. It is absolutely amazing! Maggie Stiefvater is an extremely talented writer. The way she writes is just beautiful and almost poetic. I think her version of werewolves is original and interesting.
The main characters, Grace and Sam, are amazing characters. I enjoyed how each chapter was in either Grace's or Sam's point of view. Often times when a book has more than one character's point of view, ...more

The basic plot is decent enough, although it bears more than a slight resemblance to another YA fantasy story that focuses on a girl in a small town falling for a guy who isn't exactly normal.
The new twist on the werewolf mythos is interesting, and I liked this new take regarding transforming from human to wolf and back again.
My problem with Shiver comes from one thing - for the life of me, I couldn't find a reason for Sam and Grace to have such powerful feelings for each other. The relationship ...more

WOW!
I wasn’t sure how I would like the alternating narration, but WOW! Maggie has discovered such an awesome way to tell a story; so out of the box that I just can't wait to read "Linger"! So rarely do you get to experience relationships develop from both points of view. Maggie not only captures Grace and the selfless love she gives to the world, but makes you ache for Sam and the all encompassing love he has for Grace. Wow, so glad I finally picked this book up. I read this in a day, and it's 400 pages, so I obviously was really wrapped up in it. The story is about Sam who is a werewolf when the weather is cold, and Grace who was saved by Sam as a young girl and now he watches over her. It's an amazing book. One thing that makes it great is it's written in both Sam and Grace's 1st person point of view, so you always know how these characters are feeling about each other. This is an absolute must read!
