I absolutely loved this book! It was romantic, and sad, and scary, and everything else you want in a good book!

Grace was attacked by wolves when she was young, but was saved by a yellow eyed wolf. After that she had a connection with him that lasted through the years. Every winter her wolf came back, and they shared that connection from afar. When listening to an audio book, it is sometimes difficult to separate story from reader.

The review of just the audio book would not have obtained 4 stars. The gentleman who read Sam's chapters was over-dramatic in his reading and really detracted from the story. I looked forward to when his chapters were over simply because I couldn't stand to listen to him. Other than that, the story was engaging and well recorded - no funky pauses in midsentence, words were consistently pronounced the same wa When listening to an audio book, it is sometimes difficult to separate story from reader.

I looked forward to when his chapters were over simply because I couldn't stand to listen to him. Other than that, the story was engaging and well recorded - no funky pauses in midsentence, words were consistently pronounced the same way throughout the reading. My only other complaint for the audio book is the way they broke the discs up - sometimes it would just cut out in midsentence and you'd have to put the next disc in. That ceased being an issue once I downloaded the audio files to my iPod and renamed the files so it would play in order.

A review of just the story:
It caught me by surprise. I'd heard a lot of good things about this series and new it was popular among the young adult paranormal scene. I wasn't expecting the story to be told from two first person perspectives - a style that sometimes works great and sometimes just gets annoying. I didn't like it at all at first but then it grew on me. I loved the new idea for werewolves - who they are, how they were turned, what kind of "monster" they turn into when they change.

Having not actually 'read' the book, I can't flip back to a page to give a direct quote for an example but here were some things that bothered me...
1. How quickly Grace becomes attached to Sam. I understand that she's been in love with him as a wolf for six years but in less than 24 hours of meeting his human form, she suddenly says something along the lines of she can't live without him. I'm sorry, but that is not realistic...not even for teens.
2. Many lines were just super cheesy. I know how difficult it is to pull off a romantic scene between two teens without getting either sickeningly sappy or too graphic to remain a YA book, but there has to be a way to pull it off without sounding like you pulled the lines out of a bad romantic movie.
3. I appreciated that the sex scene wasn't described more than it was, but I also think it's a shame that so many books in the YA make premarital sex an excepted standard. I get that they seemed to have a limited time to be together but it would've made it all that more tragic that he changed before they could 'act'.

Overall though, this book was really enjoyable and I looked forward to listening to it. I've already requested the next audio book (Linger) in the trilogy and plan to read Forever (the conclusion).

When I saw this book on Goodreads a few years ago, I was intrigued, so I was really excited to read it when I found it at the library. After finishing, I found that I really loved the plot, characters, and the series. A new series to be on my favorite series list. The plot had a little bit of Twilight feel to it whit a warewolf and a human girl who was in some sense a warewolf deep inside with the boy always trying to fight to stay in control and human. But it also had its own sense of style and When I saw this book on Goodreads a few years ago, I was intrigued, so I was really excited to read it when I found it at the library. After finishing, I found that I really loved the plot, characters, and the series. A new series to be on my favorite series list. The plot had a little bit of Twilight feel to it whit a warewolf and a human girl who was in some sense a warewolf deep inside with the boy always trying to fight to stay in control and human. But it also had its own sense of style and unique plot twists to it. There was many things I liked about it. I liked how Grace and Sam got together at the beginng and their past history of him a wolf and her a girl. It made the book more romantic along with paranormal and hey had some really sweet moments which I loved. I loved the dual point of views and the temperature for each chapter let me know what both Sam and Grace were thinking and doing and how Sam was reacting to the weather. I also loved the twists and turns and bits of new information being revealed at surprising times. It was a fast paced, easy to read, action packed paranormal romance that I easily fell in love with. I loved the characters and how they were. Grace was great and despite the neglectful parents, she didn't let it get to her and lived life her way. She is also a pretty big reader and I was able to connect with her that way. She was intrigued with Sam and loved the wolfs instead of hating them and being disgusted by their acts. It could be because she is like them in a deep way, but it could also be that she feels they are human like and are warewolfs. I aloe loved Sam because despite being a warewolf, he was the sweetest guy ever. He was among to Grace and how he's always there for her, whether it's wolf or human, and always wanting to protect and save her makes him the perfect boyfriend. There were parts where I felt really bad for him like what his parents did to him and there are parts where he made me smile because of his surprises and acts. But they are a really great couple. Olivia was kinda good and I can't exactly relate to her but I was glad that she was happy in the end. Rachel didn't have a big part. But she was a great friend. Beck despite his previous acts that he feels really guilty about, he was a good guy and a great father to Sam. He was there for him and taught him everything. Jack, I just didn't like, but I did sorta feel bad for the guy. Isabel was okay and she did make me laugh with her sarcastic comments, but she was also heful and nice to Grace at times. So I really liked most of the characters and can't wait to read more of them in the next books. The ending was fantastic and I loved it. It was sweet and gave me enough interst to make me want to instantly read the next book. It was a perfect ending to warp up the book but also make me want to come back for more. Fantastic first book and I look forward to more books in the series and more books by this author. Enjoy!!!! ...more

I liked this book, but didn't love it. Perhaps I am coming to this series too late, what with all the other books on the market containing werewolves and the like. For me, Maggie Stiefvater is still the bomb though, and I simply adore her later work. ...more
