This book left me with a bereft feeling. Overall I loved the thrilling series, but I wish there could have been slightly more hope at the end. Maybe that would have been too unrealistic, though. I love Suzanne Collins' tight writing style--every word moved the story forward. Her characterization was touching and poignant. I had a much harder time sympathizing with Katniss in this book, and often felt disconnected from what she was going through--I think in part because *she* felt so disconnected from what she's going through, as a coping mechanism. I think a lot of it was very realistic, but I felt distanced as the reader. I REALLY wish there was an extra chapter in the end about Peta and Katniss. I wanted more of a story behind them getting together. He was so mean to Katniss one moment, and the next to being together with her? Many of my friends agreed we needed more.

The final book in the Hunger Games trilogy. Again packed with excitement that left me wanting more. I think the book did a very good job of reflecting the horror of war and that good people don't always get what they want and bad people don't always come to a bad end. Fan.Tastic! This may be the BEST series I've ever read! I love my Twilight Saga of course and my Sookies but they never kept me awake at night the way the Hunger Games did. This last book was probably my favorite. The last half had me on the edge of my seat, bawling my eyes out and unable to put the book down.
