I stayed up until 2:00 a.m. finishing this book last night. Wow! I'm like an Avox: speechless. I think I liked The Hunger Games better overall (I felt a slight letdown when I found out about the Quarter Quell) but the political aspects of this series are fascinating. Agh, I love this series. I loved this book and I can't wait to read Mockingjay. I'm actually reading a different book in between this and Mockingjay so I can savor it a little longer. I am going to be sad when the series is over.

The idea of a game such as the Hunger Games or the Quarter Quill is shockingly horrifying.

What can I say about the characters? I absolutely love them all. Each one adds power to

Again, I'm not sure what it is about this story that has me liking it but feeling it's lacking in something to make me fall in love with it the way so many others have. I think in a lot of ways it's the main character. I don't find Katniss appealing. She spends so much of the book bouncing around the story in reaction to other characters rather than being centered. The book is certainly gritty and full of horrors with enough excitement to keep the reader going for the next book, that probably co ...more
