What Members Thought

Did I think it was possible to have multiple heart attacks while reading this book? No. Did it happen? Hell Yeah! I was completely taken back by the emotions swirling in this book. Half the time I kept saying," Katniss, What are you doing?" in a frustrated voice.
Katniss has won and all seems okay. Except that she has started an uprising and The Capitol is not okay with that. With those consequences they want Katniss to play it off. Make it seem like she really is in love with Peeta. What Katniss ...more

Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark have survived the Hunger Games together. But, Katniss' actions in the arena have sparked the fire of rebellion in the districts. The Capitol wants to quash the unrest before it can spread to all of Panem's citizens. Katniss thought that winning would ensure a better life for her and her sister, Prim. Catching Fire is awesome! I love how Suzanne describes the relationship between Katniss and Peeta. Katniss is not sure about her feelings for Peeta, but in this novel, she is determined to save him when the Capitol announces that for the 75th Hunger Games (Quarter Quell), tributes will be selected among existing winners. President Snow must have thought that Katniss would perish while facing with a bunch of past winners. I pitied her that nightmares continued to haunt her dreams. As usual, Suzan

I liked the first book in this series so much. But I don't think this one was as good.
In a way, getting to know the world of Panem and figuring out the characters added some kind of charm to the first book. Already knowing all of the above, this one didn't feel as special.
Also at some points, it was too sad and depressing and had a sense of numbness to it. And it didn't have a different idea from the first one. I mean the circumstances were different but they mostly led to the same points.. Wel ...more

"I really can't think about kissing when I've got a rebellion to incite."
I almost forgot to sleep when I started reading Catching Fire. Pieces are starting to move immediately at the start of the book and the fast-paced approach of delivering the story adds to the thrill and breathtaking follow-up to Hunger Games.

This book catches up with Katniss six months after the Hunger Games. She and Peeta now both have houses in Victor’s Village alongside Haymitch. Just as she and Peeta are about to embark on their Victory Tour through the Districts, Katniss receives a surprise visitor…President Snow. The President tells her that her little stunt in the Hunger Games with the berries was interpreted by the Districts are an act of rebellion and it is up to her to tamp down the revolutionary wind sweeping the country.

I know I said this before with The Hunger Games, but honestly do not finish this book with out having Mockingjay on hand to start immediatly. The cliff hanger is driving me crazy and though the book is out in stores I am at my cabin in Northern Minnesota with no decent book store for an hour!!!
The book was awesome, this series is slowly taking the number one postion on my favorite list - over taking Twilight....yes, I really just said that. ...more

What did I think? I'm still reeling. It's been a while since I've read something that I couldn't put down. The Hunger Games was given to me by a dear friend and I'm so glad she introduced me. It's a gut wrenching, brilliantly written, beautiful and tragic story, and I can't wait to sink my teeth into Mockingjay.
