Okay, without going into the whole plot thing, I just have to say this book was two things: Surprising and exciting.
I was surprised because it wasn't like any other young adult book I had ever read and exciting because it was full of fast-paced action, and by action I mean fight scenes. Lots and lots of fight scenes.
I knew this book was going to be different when Katniss talked about the bobcat that started following her around. I expected it to become a pet....oh no, because she is concerned it ...more

Has easily moved to the number one spot on my favorite book list! I even scared the poor shop owner in the sleepy little town I'm visiting, 10 minutes before closing bursting in with a specific need and asking for Catching Fire! (sadly they did not have it, buy it may arrive tomorrow) tip: buy them all together! You will be happy to have book two when book one ends!

To me, this book is a futuristic medly of Shirley Jackson's, The Lottery meets William Golding's, Lord of the Flies with a big helping of Survivor..... all overseen by the politics of an oppressive Big Brother type government.
This is a heartwrenching and horrifying story about survival and humanity. It revolves around 16 year old Katniss and her struggles with both, while being televised and watched by literally everyone. She has to find her inner str ...more

The Hunger Games is definitely one of my favorite books. Every time I read it, I am sucked into this dystopian world that Suzanne Collins has created. I just love the way that she writes. As one chapter ends, I find myself starting the next chapter even though I promised myself I would read only one more chapter and then get back to the real world.
The main character, Katniss, is amazing. I love that she is a strong, independent girl who is smart and has great survival instincts. After her father ...more

WOW. I think most reviews on this book have said it all about the quality of the writing and the deep feelings this book have stirred in so many.
I debated reading the hunger games becuase I am not a fan of dystopian novels. With all the popularity of the book, everyone was reading them but me. After talking with a friend, I finally decided against reading them. So it is funny that I changed my mind.
