I have calmed down quite a bit since when I finished this book at approx. 12:00 a.m. last night...I had shelved this book for almost a year after starting it because I just felt like I couldn't do it...I couldn't finish it, but, I am really glad that I did...

I have a hurricane of emotions going on inside of me upon completing this second installment in Stephanie Meyer's Twilight series...I will say that I enjoyed this book more than the first one even though the characters were driving me nuts t I have calmed down quite a bit since when I finished this book at approx. 12:00 a.m. last night...I had shelved this book for almost a year after starting it because I just felt like I couldn't do it...I couldn't finish it, but, I am really glad that I did...

I have a hurricane of emotions going on inside of me upon completing this second installment in Stephanie Meyer's Twilight series...I will say that I enjoyed this book more than the first one even though the characters were driving me nuts throughout the majority of the book...

I'd heard people disliked this book because Edward leaves for most of the book which then shone the spotlight on what exactly was the connection between Bella and Jacob....Where as Jacob was in the background through most of, "Twilight."

Now, note that I had seen the first two movies before reading the actual books and to say that there is a world of difference between the two is an understatement...I couldn't even picture the actor's that portrayed these characters in the film adaptations because they were so very different...Especially, Jacob...

I mean I was so pro-Edward in the first movie and book....But, especially after watching the movie "New Moon," I totally have become a switzerland...lol...And even after seeing "Eclipse" five times I am still switzerland....Why? you ask...Because I saw in some ways more chemistry between Bella and Jacob that with Bella and Edward, she just seemed so on guard around Edward and constantly putting herself beneath him...Maybe it was a self-esteem thing for Kristen Steward in her vision of how Bella should be portrayed that she just exuded being much more at ease around Jacob than Edward...After reading these books...I would agree that Bella of the books is the same way...The difference between the movie and the books was I was seeing romantic sparks between Jacob and Bella in the movie...Despite the few times that's she's comtemplating her feeling for Jacob in the book, if they are indeed something more than friendship, it still seems like he is basically a rebound for her while Edward was gone...It is basically etched in stone within these pages of the book that her heart will always belong to Edward, and even if she had lets say said let me try a relationship with Jacob because it would be so much easier than with Edward I'm sure she would have been fine, but, she would have still been bound to Edward...Mind, Body, and Soul...

Granted I have not read Eclipse yet, I started it last night within five minutes after finishing New Moon. And my emotions are still no better...It makes me wonder what was the point of even having Jacob in this series if they (Bella and him) never even had a shot at a relationship that could easily compete with her and Edward's? Why is he even here if he's not a formidable mate in the same level as Edward? I don't know...I mean don't get me wrong Jacob had his moments where he was a complete jerk to Bella...And showed his immaturity more than once...But, putting all of that aside...I never doubted that he was completely in love with Bella...Bella on the other hand, plucked my last damn nerve throughout the book....First becoming comatose over the break-up...though I've been there in real life before, then just doing so much stupid stuff it was really annoying...Then Edward pissed me off when they had come back from Volterra and he's all weepy eyed and sorry and saying passages such as this one (p.514)

" Before you, Bella, my life was like a moonless night. Very Dark, but, there were stars-points of light and reason....And then you shot across my sky like a meteor. Suddenly everything was on fire: there was brilliancy, there was beauty. When you were gone, when the meteor had fallen over the horizon, everything went black. Nothing had changed, but, my eyes were blided by the light. I couldn't see the stars anymore. And there was no more reason for anything."

Ok...on one hand he did go all Shakespears/William Frost on her with this passage, but, on the other hand, I was like really Edward? Really? I mean does anyone, but, a poet actually feel this way about the woman he loves? I don't know...Don't get me wrong by the time that I finished this book part of me was cooing like a baby over the love Edward poured over Bella trying to repent (lol) for leaving, but, another part of me was like wait a minute? What of Jacob? You're going to just dismiss him like that because Edward decided to reappear...I'm just confused...I get that Bella and Edward's bond trancends time and space, but, I gotta say Jacob got a bum deal in this series thus far...Maybe I'll feel less upset after reading "Eclipse."

Anyhow, would I recommend this book...Hell yeah...To all YA and Adult readers...It's just one of those series, as frustrating as it may be to read, that you have to complete...I will definately re-read this series upon completion. to get a better understanding of it...Maybe my emotions won't be so volatile the second time around...For now, it's onto the next book.... ...more

I have to admit straight away that my opinion here is going to be bias. My favorite books of the twilight Saga are by far new moon and eclipse. Why you ask? There’s hardly any Edward in new moon, how could you like it more than Twilight? Well it’s pretty simple in my mind… action.

Let's clarify.. Bella is head over heels in love with Edward. Crazily obsessed, even. Then Edward ditches her and she's so distraught. And then she becomes obsessed with Jacob.
