This is not typical sci-fi. I was hooked from the beginning. I love how there are 2 people living inthe same body. Wanderer took melanies body over. When that happens the human is supposed to disappear, but not Melanie. So, now Wanderer is getting all of Melanie's memories and they end up being in love with the same guy. There is definetely a lot of things talked about as far as human nature and who is really evil. The humans or the aliens that came to take over our bodies to stop us from destro

I started reading the book right after I got back from Stephenie's Houston Host signing. I found myself stuck in chapter 3 for about 3 weeks, not getting into the book. I was frusterated by that fact. I wasn't even sure if I was going to pick it back up again until a close friend of mine called me to talk about the book. She urged me to keep reading.
Thank you Melissa for calling me! By the end of Chapter 4 I was totally hooked. It took me a day and half to finish the book. I couldn't put it down ...more

I'd picked up this book time and time again at the book store, but kept putting it down and going back to revamp Meyer's Twilight books. I was never a big sci-fi fan, and the premise of the story sounded too "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" for me.
Finally, after revamping BD for a third time, I decided I needed to force myself to try The Host; it was time to move on from Twilight and read something else. Plus, I admire Meyer so much, and I wanted to support her. I felt like the best way of doing ...more

Anyone who knows me very well at all knows that I am a Twilight fan. As such, I was concerned that I may not like The Host as well as I had the Twilight saga, which made me a little nervous about reading it. As it turns out I had nothing to worry about.
I completed my first reading within a week of having purchased the book (at a book signing. Go ahead, be jealous.) I wanted to re-read in advance of the movie's release, and again, I was worried that I may not love it as much as I had the first ti ...more

A hard book to get through at first, but once you get past the first 100 pages, it's amazing! So well written and you'll fall in love with the characters. I bawled at the end and hope SM writes the sequels.

Finally finished, I loved this book. Being an obsessed Twilight fan, I didn't know if I would like something else. But just like TW this story pulls you in, and you must read the book. I know this isn't a great "review" but I don't want to give anything away.
Reread-this time around I am reading along with the audio version. WOW, I usually dont like audio, but this one is well done. It has given me a whole new take on the book. ...more
