Laura
Anna Karenina is the tragic story of a married aristocrat/socialite and her affair with the affluent Count Vronsky. The story opens when she arrives in the midst of a family broken up by her brother's unbridled womanizing—something that prefigures her own later situation, though she would experience less tolerance by others.

It is a novel by the Russian writer Leo Tolstoy, published in serial installments from 1873 to 1877 in the periodical The Russian Messenger.

Anyone who talked to me while I was reading this book will no doubt be surprised by the five star rating. I threatened one star many times and had more than a few mental fights with Tolstoy along the way. I wanted to throw the book across the room and perhaps push Anna under that train myself about 100 pages earlier than Tolstoy did but I still recognize that it is a work of genius and I'm glad I read it. I'm also glad it's over.

This book should really be read slowly, much more slowly than I did
