I read Swiss Family Robinson last year and now have similar criticisms of its forebear. An excellent example of the overarching colonizer mentality at every chance. When the character wasn’t busy being self-important, he was preachy. Even when read as a product of its time, this guy obviously needed a longer time out. The redeeming storyline was the underlying survival theme. Though I was often cheering on nature’s side.
