My third and final Charlotte Bronte from the 1001 list, although Jane Eyre, which I read as a teenager is probably due for a re-read especially as although I enjoyed it I didn't really 'really' like it and I've been thinking that I should probably give it another chance as it were. I was reconsidering this after having read Shirley not so long ago, as I thought that novel pretty mediocre really, but Villette has raised Charlotte in my estimation even though it might be as good as it is because i ...more

This book was not my cup of tea. Couldn't really get into the characters. Also plot felt very choppy. I prefer her other work. ...more
