 Danielle The Book Huntress
Lily is a great protagonist. I love that the elements of her Chinese-American heritage were well-integrated into this story. I love her no-nonsense, down to earth, cop personality, but also that she is open-minded enough to appreciate her gifts and to realize that there are things that go bump in the night.

I loved this book. Layered, complex, smart, and well written. Read the complete review at: http://loveaffairwithanereader.blogsp...

Things I like about the Story

* The main character is an Asian American female, detective on the San Diego Police Department. I'm Asian American, female, from San Diego with lots of friends on the police department. I found Lily easy to relate to.

The writing was just okay; these books, amongst other things, are supposed to be funny, and Wilkes...isn't. Also, the similarities between tough, independent Lily Yu and LKH's Anita Blake got on my nerves. It's not a bad read for a r ...more

Lily and Rule

Excellent new series to start. I think I have found another obsession.

I was happy to see that Wilks created a relationship where the mate bond didn't mean they instantly fell in love. At first, Rule was not happy he would be limited to Lily for the rest of his long lived life. And Lily, not being Lupi, had no understanding of what was happening to her and she didn't really care for it. I am going to enjoy seeing this relationship grow.

And I really like the secondary characters. I f
