I have some mixed feelings with this book. I love it, I hate it, I don't know what to do with it. I was expecting romance as it was marketed that way. But this may be more like UF heavy on the romance. But that could be misleading to. The romance is prominent but on a slow build. Not a bad thing. I actually like the slow build up on a romance. I actually read the short story that is the base for this series, and actually it is a lot a like this first book. The difference is that in the S"S the side story with the killing was shorter and a lot less complicated (there it was that a rival clan tried to take them down because of the right that they support) and the whole relationship moved faster and the "ILU" just jumped there while in the series they are still now sure how they feel towards each other, and we got explanations about the

Very good. Minus 1/2 star because of the frustrating occurrences where scenes were abruptly stopped; I felt some key scenes were omitted all together and that the book could've benefited if they were added to the story and not just paraphrased or glossed-over. Overall I really enjoyed the book. I loved the interactions between Rule and Dirty Harry the cat! Too cute. I liked Ms. Wilks premise on the whole fated-to-be-mated theme, too. I highly recommend this to all PNR fans. ...more

Have had this one on my TBR pile for some time because I had read the 0.5 Novella, Only Human and this seemed the same. Sort of was but more - I am liking Cullen ALOT. Really 3.5 Stars - it was good :)
