What Members Thought

Loved the writing. Beautiful, mature story about getting in touch with your feelings. Not a lot of drama. The plot was interesting but, it lacked something that I really cant pin point. I think maybe I wanted more grovelling or something on the hero's part. If I was mature in my every thought this book would probrably be a 5 star. But at 41 I'm not quite that mature. I knew about the epilogue in advance so I knew to go to her website. And I was very pleased with the epilogue.

Nyesel bgt bacanya.... ~_~
Cowonya punya anak ama ibu tirinya, anaknya cewe [Sarah:] cacat (terbelakang), trus cowonya berjumpa dgn si Jane, blm tau arti cinta krn si hero punya trauma walopun kemana mana gak bs kancingin celananya...
Trus didesak ayahnya buat nikah ama org lain, kl gak, Sarah dimasukkin ke rumah sakit gila... So, heronya menikah tp masih terpikir ama Jane.
Ini seh selingkuh namanya krn istrinya tetap ada, tp dia ngajak si Jane hidup bersama dia wkt hmpr endingnya...

i really don't know how to review this book. i liked it, but have some dislikes as well. the plot was good and the story was complete. it just had some parts that were dragged out that i didn't like and also the reason for Matthew's low opinion of himself didn't match correctly to me. his feelings of shame were a bit extreme for the reason.
i did like Jane's character. she was independent and stedfast for majority of the book then changed her mind in the end. that was a bit of a surprise and add ...more

Wow Featherstone has an amazing poetic way of describing vices. I found this story pulled at so many emotional strings. Matthew is a truly tortured hero and I found his tortured past and all the walls him and Jane had to get past moving. I wanted them to have a happy ending so badly. The ending was what killed this for me. While I like a book to not always work out too perfectly, after such a tortured life I felt like this ending just wasn't good enough. After such a tortured life and a hard won

Good story. I wouldn't say it unique, and I might not remember it in a few months, but it lets us feel connected with the characters in someway...
It was also realistic, not fairytale happy ending... well the happy ending yes, but again, realistically happy ending. (you know what I mean if you read it)
Another thing I liked is that we had more of Matthew's point of view than Janes. Which is nice, since a big partion of books focus only on the female's POW. ...more

First one I read of Featherstone. Loved the whole nurse falls for her patient- and what a patient! Matthew is all about pleasure and sensual delights uninterested in tender feelings. A scandal and class keeps Matthew from declaring his love for Nurse Jane who although plain awakens in him real love he can't handle.

Another excellent read from Charlotte Featherstone. I couldn't put this one down either. Loved it :) ...more
