"4.5 stars" J. R. Ward has done it again with another spectacular installment in the Black Dagger Brotherhood series. Lover Avenged has pretty much everything I've come to expect from her writing: Swoon-worthy romance that harkens back to some of the earlier books in the series like Lover Eternal; hot love scenes, this time between more than just the main couple; lots of obstacles to overcome for true love to be victorious; an intelligently written fantasy story arc; lots ...more

I had to drive to the airport the other day. It's a 40 minutes drive from my home through the mountains of my island across hills silver with olive trees and verdant with vinyards dotted here and there with the sober lances of cypresses. Almost throughout the drive under the harsh afternoon sunlight I was reliving inside my head the scenes from this book which I had reluctantly just closed in order to leave the house. Even this most vivid scenery failed to distract me from the world I had been l

Z, Rhage and now Rhev have my favorite books of the series thus far. Very intense conclusion in this one with a cliffhanger ending that will have you BEGGING for John Matthew's book this April.
I'm so glad I suffered through Phury's book to make it here. Lover Avenged not only told Rhev and Elena's story, we had the added bonus of Wrath & Beth and John Matthew & Xhex drama and hookups. The scene in Wrath's office. On the desk. On the floor. If you read this, you know what I'm talking about. Smok ...more

Reading again April 2010 to gear up for JR Wards next addition to the BDB series....Lover Mine.
This is book 7 of the Black Dagger Brotherhood series. This book focuses on Rehvenge. Rehv isn’t actually part of the Brotherhood, he’s kinda the opposite. Rehvenge is a drug lord and owns a number of nightclubs in the city, one of them frequently visited by the Brotherhood and his sister Bella is married to one of the Brotherhood and has a young baby. Rehv has a sinister reputation so he seemed to be ...more

I love this series. But this book had way too much of what I call skanky sex. Skanky sex involves unpleasant characters who use sex as a degrading experience. Frankly, if JR Ward continues in this direction, she will lose me as a reader much as Laurell Hamilton did with her Anita Blake series. The first books were the best in this series. More recently, Ward seems intent to shock.

Not bad. I liked this one much better than 'Covet' although it was another harping on being a whore. Ms. Ward sure loves her hookers.

Love, love, love! I was never into Rehv in the previous books and was disappointed when I found out he was next. I have to say that I now LOVE Rehv! This is one of my favorites from the series. I can't wait for JM's book!
