Still a big 5 star read!
Original rating/review Sept'2010:
5+ stars – Colonial American/Frontier Historical Romance
I’m a huge fan of Pamela Clare’s I-Team romantic suspense series, I love hot highlander heroes, I’m fascinated by pre-Revolutionary American history, and I’ve heard nothing but wonderful things about Surrender from several GR friends. So why did I wait so long to read this?!?! I had no doubt that I’d love it, but I had a feeling it would be emot ...more

Lady Anne Burness Campbell was betrayed into 14 years of indentured service after her uncle accused her of being a thief because she knew he killed her mother. She chose to be branded a thief rather than return to her Uncle Bain's house and possibly be murdered herself. Her uncle branded her on her inner thigh instead of her thumb so that she would never be able to sleep with a man without being found out as a thief. Anne was sent to the American colonies where she was sold into service to a fro

★★★★★ Five full stars and a WOW!
I loved this book, but then, as a historical romance reader, it is definitely my cuppa tea. I was a bit worried, as every one of my GR friends loves her contemporary love stories; could she make the transition? With a resounding yes, I must say she did! And then some.
I also selected Iain MacKinnon, the hero, to fill the coveted “Protector Hero” slot in my Nothing But Reading Challenges - My Hero Challenge. And man-oh-man, does he fulfill the role - for a mort ...more

5++++ Stars
While this is my first book by this author, I knew it would not be my last. Like most everyone, I have my favorite authors and my favorite books. And then there’s an even higher rating than “favorite” and it is saved for those specially gifted, wonderfully talented authors that fit into my “absolutely must have” category. Pamela Clare is one of those authors. Once I read Surrender, I knew I was hooked. I immediately ordered all books from her backlist. Now I simply, anxiously watch a ...more

Ms. Clare can truly write a HAWT historical. I loved the time frame that the Rangers take place in. This was the first book and one of the best! I have read them all and can't wait for Connor's story. Although I know it is a long shot I would love to see what she could do to turn Lord William into a hero with his on HEA. He is a meanie right now, but I know it is because he doesn't have the love of a good woman to whip him into shape. :-)

This really should get 3.5 stars. It was very well written and the characters were deep and well thought out. It had great twists and turns and tremendous heart. I loved the brogue that was written in, it made it play perfectly in my head. A book about Highlanders should always include that. It wasn't too fantastic and it wasn't ever boring. It was set in the frontier of American and maybe that's were it lost me. That is just my thing, because like I stated it was well written. The love scenes w

Let me start by saying I'm not a fan of historical romance and usually avoid it. BUT I FLIPPIN' LOVED LOVED LOVED this book. Pamela Clare is true to form. An amazing plot so perfectly woven with a love story that it's hard to believe it's fiction. Every time I pick up one of her books I become immersed in the world she creates and forget myself. This book, like her others made me shed tears of joy (so embarrassing on the 4 train during rush hour)& made me laugh. I fell in love with both primary
