This is a reasonably competent entry into a genre I have no interest in at all. If I'd read it when I was twelve, I would have thought it was the most amazing book ever. As it is . . . been there, done that. It's a constructed set of a high school, of a family, with none of the life and weird loose ends of the real thing. The voice and the subjects discussed lack verisimilitude for an actual 15-year-old.
