Maisy is having a really bad day. Or, series of days. Not exactly sure since she's been awake and drugged back to sleep a couple times now. One minute she's going about her day on Earth, the next she's in a room with a bunch of other humans and a toad like being, the next thing she remembers is waking up to a giant alien kitty. Maisy is having a really bad day. Or, series of days. Not exactly sure since she's been awake and drugged back to sleep a couple times now. One minute she's going about her day on Earth, the next she's in a room with a bunch of other humans and a toad like being, the next thing she remembers is waking up to a giant alien kitty. That thing about no one hearing you scream in space, though? Not true. Kitty's brothers heard her loud and clear. Bought as a pet, they were a little baffled at first when she requested clothes and used utensils to feed herself. But they figured out quickly when she started asking for names. Now she has 3 giant alien cats trying to learn English enough that they can explain that they're dumping her at the nearest space station... What?!

Spoilers ahead.
While some parts were funny, some glossed over things too quickly to speed rail to that happy ending. I was glad to see the different cultures clash, the language barrier that took time to resolve, but the move to become mates seemed too quick. They had barely acknowledged her as intelligent before pouncing. Also, we get a description of her but other than vague alien cats with 2 tails (and other anatomical differences of the male variety) and mottled fur we get nothing. What colors are the fur? Are the claws retractable? Why 2 tails? Especially for cat like beings. Even arboreal cats, their tails aren't prehensile, just for balance, so why 2? For predators, which cats typically are, why not more arms, eyes, ...? Humans we don't need excessive details on, we know what those look like unless there's something unusual: scarring, lost limbs, ect. Why do brothers, born at different times, pair with the same mate? What evolutionary advantage or need did that meet? I have so many questions. And, the other humans, both the "pets" and purchased, why were they deemed pets? Anyone, anywhere on the food chain, is going to react badly to waking in a cage. The fact that they clung together, expressed emotions, should have warranted a 2nd glance and some questions. The staged accusations at the end, well, I'm not going to really go into those. We went from space faring, advanced beings, to "mean girls" scenarios that were entirely too contrived. And, for an advanced race, why were they not allowed to petition anyone? What the heck is their justice system like? Ack. I have way too many questions about what is probably meant to be a quick fluff read. But, I do applaud the premise. There's no "we need women", or slavery mentioned. So, a definite yay! I gladly give it 3 stars because of those and for a lack of major typos and errors. The other 2 are withheld because, for a series starter, we get no real background, no world building. ...more

Pretty good

This book was pretty good. I really liked the alien-ness of their brothers. It was a fairly fast paced story I personally could have done with a little more lingering and digging into all the details. It is also told from all three of the brothers & Maisy's POV. The povs change at good moments; and much like my personal preference is digging into details I prefer one real main pov and am ok with occasional other povs this one changes povs a lot.
