I didn't quite know what to expect when I started this book...it's been recommended to me multiple times by multiple people. But every time I read the synopsis I was still hesitant. It's not that I don't like scifi books but I'm very particular about them. I finally put it on my tbr list and then I finally got to read it.

This story is amazing! I love Sal. She's so strong to go thru everything she has in her life. From slave to Elite, she takes it all in stride. Blaec seems good for her thru out the story but towards the end, I cannot believe the whole "be more human" comment. Ugh....that was a low blow and I don't know if I could've forgiven him so quickly for that. Cyno....OMG, my perfect idea of the bad boy that everyone wants. I think he should be hers. Sal Luxx number 9 you are the definition of courage!
This story made my imagination work overtime and challenged me to figure out a new and alien society! It's a totally different world and yet I understand and relate to the characters deeply! That's important to me! More than editing which I hardly care about, although this story is well written. I'm an Army wife and mom so this female main character being a soldier is my cup of tea! The prejudices she is confronting and how she handles it had ...more

Sal is an amazing bad ass character! Strong, smart and a natural born killer...oh wait I mean leader, lol. I really enjoyed this book and am looking forward to the next. I hope she learns more about her heritage and that the Black Blades continue to command respect after the big reveal at the end.
